Sober Travel Guide: Las Vegas
… so much to do, so little time 🎰
After my second trip to Las Vegas this year, I knew it was time to create the ultimate guide for Sober Travel in Sin City.
The city offers many VIBRANT activities for those looking to experience Las Vegas sans booze. According to resident and tour guide Lisa Nguyen, “One of the most underrated experiences in Las Vegas is exploring the Neon Museum. It’s a fascinating dive into the city’s history and perfect for all ages. You get to see the iconic signs that lit up the Strip in the past, and it’s a great way to appreciate the art and history of Las Vegas without the need for alcohol.” or any substances for that matter.
You can also enjoy an afternoon at the High Roller Observation Wheel, which provides stunning city skyline views.
The best way to enjoy Las Vegas (and other destinations) is to set intentions, have a flexible plan, and be open to new experiences that don’t center around alcohol.

Getting to Vegas:
For domestic flights, I love Southwest. I’ve been flying with them for years and just love the vibe. I always chuckle when the flight attendant makes a joke before or after landing.
If you’re considering flying with Southwest (or any airline honestly), I recommend signing up for the their Southwest Rapid Rewards® Credit Card.
Celebrating an amazing women-owned biz:
You can’t write a Sober Travel Guide in Vegas without highlighting Korby, founder of Sin City Saints, Las Vegas’ first (and only) NA beverage shop.
Located within the Arts District, about 15 minutes away from the Strip, Sin City Saints offers non-alcoholic & zero-proof beer, wine, and spirits, and ready-to-go cocktails.
Vist the store and join the non-alc party 🎉 💃🏻🥂

Staying in Vegas:
Las Vegas, known for its dazzling lights & vibrant nightlife, is also home to some of the world’s most luxurious and iconic hotels. Whether you’re looking for a serene retreat way from the Strip or a hotel filled with entertainment, the city has something to offer every traveler. The hotels in Vegas are as diverse and captivating as the city itself.
I’ve stayed at many hotels in Vegas—Aria, Caesars Palace. “Um, did Caesar really live here?” (NAME THAT MOVIE!) Bellagio. There are a few others that I’m forgetting—not because I was drinking but because I wasn’t obsessed with hotels the way that I am now.
I’ve been to Vegas probably 12 times. Maybe more. Of course, I came here while drinking, and now that I’m comfortable in my sobriety, I love coming here even more.
This may be controversial, but you should stay on the strip. AGAIN, only do this if you are comfortable with lots of people, lots of alcohol, some cigarette smoke, and people dressed up like it's the last Halloween on planet Earth.
Here are my favorite luxury hotels (in no particular order, besides the Bellagio is my favorite right now)

Bellagio, A Luxury Resort & Casino
Come for the pool, stay for the Botanical Gardens. It is a true showcase of inspiring sounds, scents, and colors. The displays change seasonally, with a dedicated Conservatory team responsible for replanting and repurposing as much living plant material as possible - an homage to Mother Nature. Plus, the pool is amazing.
I love Waldorf Astoria because they have a tea lounge with the finest tea infusions from around the world. Enjoy them against the floor-to-ceiling backdrop of Las Vegas Boulevard. From Wednesday to Sunday, they have three seatings—check out their website for more information.
Aria is famous for the Din Tai Fung dumplings and its spa, which has a relaxing salt room with heated stone beds imported from Japan. It is considered “civilized and luxurious,” with oversized, lovely rooms.
With a more relaxed feel than Aria and the Bellagio, Vdara is a great place if you’re looking for a little more peace and quiet. Since it does not have a casino, it helps keep the chaos to a minimum. It’s also smoke-free. They also have this yummy lotion that was made specifically for the hotel, which I liked.
Bellagio, Aria, and Vdara are all connected, and it’s easy to walk between them, making it fun to explore other areas without going outside.
I also love Cosmopolitan. Scarpetta is an amazing restaurant on the third floor. (GET THE GNOCCHI!) There’s also a Dry Bar on the second floor for when you want (need) a blowout after a day of crazy travel.

The Best Shows
With entertainment pretty much 24/7, the city’s shows are where Vegas comes to life. Cirque du Soleil performances, magic tricks, and hilarious comedy acts—there is something for everyone.
Here is where you can check out the most up to date shows.
#NurtureYourself - The Best Spa Experiences in Las Vegas
While Las Vegas may be famous for DJs and clubbing, it can also be a destination for nurturing your well-being and finding balance. Whether you’re seeking a quick massage after a long flight or a comprehensive spa day, spas in Vegas provide the ideal setting for self-care and rejuvenation. There are DOZENS.
Here are 2 that I like:
Four Seasons Spa: Unlike any other spa on the Strip, the Forbes Five-Star Spa and Nail Bar is a relaxing sanctuary of luxury and seclusion. The treatments are beyond and include personalized services from their award-winning spa experts. The Citrus Body Renewal is a one-of-a-kind body treatment that comes with a gentle but efficient exfoliate to restore your skin’s inner glow. The session concludes with a toning device to tighten and sculpt, while also enhancing skin smoothness.

With everything from diamond facials to Himalayan song bowls, this modern, yet warm space encourages a transformative and holistic experience. You can choose from a variety of treatments inspired both by European and Eastern rituals with a unique social approach. My spa pick is the DiamondGlow facial which provides an instant glow + lasting results. Shine bright like a diamond.

My 4 favorite outdoorsy things near Vegas:
Seven Magic Mountains: A short drive from Vegas, a vibrant art installation by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinoen opened in 2016. It was originally scheduled to be on view for two years and is still there today. I believe the reason it’s so successful is the stark contrast between art and nature, offering such a beautiful backdrop of the Mojave Desert. And it’s free.
Red Rock Canyon: Another short drive from Vegas, this spot offers stunning geological formations sculpted by MILLIONS of years of natural forces. HOW COOL IS THAT? There are so many different hiking trails, scenic drives, and even rock climbing options, which is the perfect escape to nature.
Mount Charleston, the tallest peak in Southern Nevada, offers another cool contrast to the city of Las Vegas with its cool, alpine environment. The mountain itself is a year-round destination, with hiking, mountain biking, and even snowshoeing and skiing in the winter.
Death Valley: It's not a short drive from Las Vegas, but it's worth it if you have the time. Death Valley National Park is in eastern California, known for its extreme temperatures and salt flats. Iconic spots include Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America, and Zabriskie Point - I highly recommend watching the sunset there. Book this small group tour, including transportation from Vegas, views at stops at Zabriskie’s Point, the Devil’s Golf Course, Furnace Creek Museum, and Artists Pallet.
3 Mocktails to try in Las Vegas (and a bonus!)
Luckily for us sober folk, Vegas extends its notable hospitality to include GOOD mocktails - flavorful & alcohol-free. Many of the city’s bars and restaurants now have custom mocktails on their menus, using nonalcoholic or no spirits. Picture freshly squeezed juices with a little fizz, and smoked herbs. If you have a specific flavor, let your server or bartender know, and they’ll make something special just for you.
Mocktail #1: Cucumber Watermelon Fresca at Hotel Bar in Waldorf Astoria
Cucumber Watermelon Fresca at Hotel Bar in Waldorf Astoria is a refreshing flavor splash after a day in the heat. A mixologist designed this drink and combined citrusy flavor and gorgeous color. Sip this while admiring the lights from the Strip on the 23rd floor. It’s made with watermelon juice, lemon, lime, house-made lemongrass syrup, muddled cucumber, and ginger ale.
Mocktail #2: Colada Beach at Hotel Bar in Waldorf Astoria
Another delicious drink to try at Hotel Bar in Waldorf Astoria is the Colada Beach, which consists of pineapple, passion fruit, coconut cream, and coconut water with lime. They also have Becks NA beer.
Mocktail #3: Caesars Berries at Caesars Palace
If you want a romantic vibe, I recommend enjoying a handcrafted mocktail at Vanderpump Cocktail Garden at Caesars Palace. The garden’s enchanting atmosphere, complete with chandeliers, sets the stage for a truly sexy and memorable experience. A popular choice is the Caesars Berries, a bush-colored drink made with raspberry, mint, hibiscus, lemon, coconut, and soda for some fizz.
BONUS MOCKTAIL!
Within the Bellagio is the infamous Pinky Ring, a bar created by Bruno Mars (WHO I LOVE) with a mocktail menu sure to please any sober girly. The Hooligan has jalapeno, lime, and agave nectar. Typically served with two liquors, the bartenders are happy to swap these out. There are several NA beers on the menu as well. As Bruno Mars would say, “that’s what I like..”
Here for the food:
Renowned for its incredible food scene, Vegas has countless options to satisfy every craving. When you’re in the mood for something light and refreshing, there is 1 spot that comes to mind that focuses on fresh, wholesome ingredients which will leave you feeling nourished and satisfied.
Truth & Tonic: Located in the Venetian, it boasts a fully vegan breakfast and lunch spot with delicious snacks, juices, and smoothies. While traveling, I love ordering juice to balance the yummy treats I consume. They have a gluten-free green machine with cucumber, celery, kale, apple, turmeric, black pepper, and ginger. YUM. Also, the Napa Cabbage Thai Salad is *chefs kiss* delicious.
A Wealth of Wellness
In a city known for indulgence, Las Vegas’s wellness experiences stand out as some of the most luxurious and transformative in the world. What happens in Vegas should NOT stay in Vegas. From lavish spa treatments that pamper to exclusive fitness programs to push you out of your comfort zone, the city offers a range of experiences that truly redefine the concept of wellness.
Here’s my favorite & unique experience to check out the next time you’re in Sin City.
AREA15 Radiance - Immersive Wellness Experiences
Can’t decide on what you’re looking for? The Radiance series has you covered, with options ranging from frequency breathwork, yoga and meditation, and the fun freeing practice of ecstatic dance. Radiance sets up these classes to be enhanced with immersive video effects, taking the experience to another level. After your class, treat yourself to a wellness shot at Oddwood bar - which details an array of wood as diverse as a forest, including nature’s geometry, and styled with brass and bronze. You can visit AREA15 with a day pass starting at $49.

Can I Be Your Punk Rock Princess?
Channel your inner angst teenager while visiting the Punk Rock Museum. This epic spot recently opened in April 2023 and proudly showcases the history, culture, and absurdity (they said that, not me) of “rock n’ roll’s step-child.” They invite lifelong fans and curious people of all ages to experience a hands-on, uniquely punk rock experience. I had Taking Back Sunday stuck in my head for days after this.
THIS ALL WAS ONLY WISHFUL THINKING
