Why Alcohol & Travel Do Not Mix

I’m here to talk about an often-overlooked topic - alcohol and travel.

While it might seem like sipping cocktails on a beach or drinking champagne at dinner is part of the adventure, it doesn’t have to be.

Safety.

This goes without saying. When you’re traveling, ESPECIALLY in unfamiliar places, safety should always be your top priority. As you know, alcohol impairs your judgment, coordinaton, and reaction times, making you more vulnerable to accidents or worse. Exploring a new city intoxicated is risky and sounds literally terrible. Stay sober to stay present.

Culture

Different countries have different attitudes and laws regarding alcohol consumpting. I’ve traveled two Kuwait two different times, and learned that alcohol is illegal there. It’s important to show respect for local customs and traditions when you’re in another country.

Health & Wellness

Traveling can already be tough on your body, and alcohol literally dehydrated you and weakens your immune systems, making it easier for you to get sick. Instead of nursing a hangover, you could be hiking up a beautiful mountain. Prioritizing your health allows you to make the most of every moment on your trip.

CASH Money

Look, you’re already spending money on traveling, and alcohol is one expense you won’t regret cutting out. When you stop drinking, you have more money for unique experiences, delicious local food, and souvenirs for your friends back home.

Genuine & authentic experiences

Alcohol clouds your intuition. Alcohol leads you to believe that calling your ex-boyfriend at 2pm is a good idea. When you’re sober, you’re more likely to engage fully with your surroundings and the people you meet. How rad is that?! The best travel experiences come from being present and open to the world around you.

Personal Growth

Traveling sober allows for a deeper connection with yourself. It’s an opportunity for you to checkin and see where you’re at. You’ll be able to navigate challenges, appreciate new experiences, and build confidence in your ability to handle whatever life throws at you.

Learn to travel with a clear mind and an open heart, and you’ll be amazed at what you discover about the world and yourself.
